Project management

What can you expect when you hire Nico Viergever as project manager? First of all an experienced person who will approach you in a honest and open fashion during your project. Obviously I will  take all responsibilities belonging to a proper project manager, but that also means that others will be addressed when it comes to their responsibilities. To enable the steering of the project, the project board should work properly. Sadly this is often the weak spot and in these cases you can trust me to address them, especially the Executive. Not to complain or "cover my ass" but to correct the system that every project is.

Every project knows risks. That is the nature of projects. But extra unnecessary risks from within, caused by the internal structure of the project, should be prevented and ruled out.

Added value

Obviously not everything during my career was a great success. Let us be honest about that. But even in  the case of a failing project, the feeling remained that the result was the best possible result under the circumstances. When de project's environment does not cooperate or politics take over, the best result is usually a "political" success. Everyone involved proclaims the success of the project, but everyone knows that objectively there is no success. As a professional with a strong sense of honour these projects and their results are not acceptable for me.

Of course I made several mistakes during the years. Who hasn't? The most important issue is that you learn from your mistakes!

What is the added value in my approach for you?

  • The status of your project will be clear. There will be clearly a state of control or the reasons for a lack of control will be clearly communicated when these reasons are outside the reach of the project manager.
  • Do more with less. In several projects I was able to deliver an acceptable end result at the end of a controlled project, using less resources than expected.
  • The reason was always the focus on the end result instead of a focus on activities. Sub-optimising and as a result uncontrolled delays will be prevented by steering all project members towards the expected end result.
