Project assurance

As a Project Board, do you know the exact status of your project? Do you have the feeling that the communication between you and your project manager could be better? Are things presented better than they turn out to be afterwards? Prince2 defines that each of the members of the Project Board is responsible to assure the project to prevent these issues. Obviously most members of the Project Board also have priorities outside the project, the reason that they appointed the project manager in the first place. Still the project manager has to be accountable to the Project Board and the Project Board should stay in touch. You can however appoint people to do this assurance for you.

Added Value

All aspects of the performance of a project and the results need independent monitoring. Independent from the project manager by the Project Board. I am available to report on the status of your project, as part of a once-only scan but also structural.

In this role it is extremely important that there is no threat to the role of the project manager. This is a purely advising role, advising the Project Board on the project.

On which questions can you expect an answer?

•     Are things really going as well as we are being told?
•     Are any problems being hidden from us?
•     Is the solution going to be what we want?
•     Are we suddenly going to find out the project is over budget and late?
•     Is the Business Case intact?

Having lots of experience in projects, I am available to assure your projects. Because of the conflict of interest between customer and supplier I will not assure the supplier side of the project.
